Muy magnifico S(e)ñor.

Antes de agora he scrito a V(uest)ra Señoria muchas / (y) ynfinitas c(ar)tas, / (y) nunca e avido respuesta ni c(ar)ta otra alguna, a cuya causa estoy en muy gran congoxa de pensar que sea la causa dello, porq(ue), aunq(ue) ya que no fuese por my, por sus Juana Dantisca (*1527 – †1601), daughter of Ioannes Dantiscus and Isabel Delgada; wife of Diego Gracián de Alderete (SKOLIMOWSKA 2004, p. 52; LLAMAS 1995; LLAMAS 1999; LLAMAS 2001; LLAMAS, SKOLIMOWSKA; MELGAR, 37, ...)

Juan Dantisco (*1528 – †1530), son of Ioannes Dantiscus and Isabel Delgada
s(er)ia razon me escryviese mas a menudo.

[1] Dantiscus left Spain for good in 1529. The editor knows of 9 letters from Isabel Delgada to Dantiscus from the years 1529-1537 that he could have received before March 16, 1537, but the latest of these is dated August 17, 1531. These letters contain requests for financial assistance and suggestions that the family come together again, but in none of them does Isabel Delgada propose entrusting her daughter to Dantiscus. Clearly, Dantiscus is referring here to letters unknown to us from the years 1531-37.
